Cardinal Justin Rigali: Dirtball of the Decade has selected Cardinal Justin Rigali as ” Dirtball of the Decade.”   Cardinal Rigali was selected because he is a sleazy, slimy,  underhanded, and deceptive dirtball who has covered up child sexual abuse by pedophile priests under his authority. published an article titled: ” Child Sexual Abuse in the Catholic Church.”  This article was published on February 7, 2011, and can be viewed by clicking on the February, 2011, archive.

The Philadelphia archdiocese suspended 21 Catholic priests on Tuesday, March 8, 2011.  A member of the ” Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests” stated that Rigali should have suspended the priests much sooner.  In addition the spokesman stated: ” There is a simple reason that dozens of credibly accused child molesters have recklessly been kept in unsuspecting parishes for years … It’s because Rigali and his top aids want it that way.”

Cardinal Rigali is one sorry excuse for a human being. finds it incomprehensible that this repulsive individual can even consider himself a Christian.  It is abundantly clear that a federal task force is needed to work with state law enforcement in all fifty states.  This federal task force should employ both criminal and civil RICO laws to shut down all parts of the Catholic church, and more importantly, sieze all assets of this corrupt organization.  The Catholic church has become an ongoing organization for pedophiles.

I sincerely hope that Cardinal Rigali has the opportunity to pray for forgiveness from a jail cell for the rest of his life.  Also, I devoutly hope that Rigali serves his time in a state prison so he has the opportunity to learn a new meaning of ” turn the other cheek.”  That would be justice indeed.

I remember when I was at Barry one old sister spoke in defense of the Catholic Church despite all its evil frailties. She spoke words to the effect that Protestants think Christianity started in 1500 with that Reformation thing and seem to forget that for 1500 years to the present it has brought millions of people to Christ and salvation. Yes there are dirtballs. But RICO Act to bust it up? Naw. Just here in Miami there would exist a huge unfillable void with the Church’s absence in social services, immigrant services, hospitals, schools, community affairs, festivals. etc.

I also attended Barry University and had a great amount of respect for the sisters who taught me. However, the continuing abuse of CHILDREN by priests is TOTALLY unacceptable. The Catholic church has made the problem much worse by protecting these pedophile priests. Why should a pedophile go to jail, but a pedophile priest just get a transfer to another parish? It has to end and the dirtballs at the top levels of the Catholic church are more concerned with money than protecting children and acting in a Christian manner. R. Van Conoley
