Alan Turnig, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, and Michele Bachmann

I  developed a series of equations that help me predict the movement and direction of stock prices.  As a retired mathematician, I continually attempt to improve the economic models that I have developed.  I recently reviewed Alan Turing’s equations and ideas in hopes of improving my economic models.  While Dr. Turing’s equations were not helpful for my needs, I re-read Dr. Turing’s biography and I believe that it might be of value to the readers of Sanityandsense.com.

Alan Turing was born June 23, 1912.  He was a mathematician, logician, cryptanalyst, and a computer scientist long before computers were available to the general public.  Dr. Turing is considered the father of “artificial intelligence.”

During the Second World War, Dr. Turing worked at Bletchley Park, Britain’s code-breaking center.  He devised a number of techniques for breaking German codes.

After the War, when he had returned to private life, Dr. Turing contacted the police about a robbery at his residence.   The police officer who responded observed “materials”  that indicated that Dr. Turing was a homosexual.  Dr. Turing’s homosexuality resulted in a criminal prosecution in 1952, when homosexuality was illegal in Britain.  He accepted “treatment” with female hormones as an alternative to prison.  Dr. Turing committed suicide by eating an apple that contained cyanide.  Some people believe that the partly eaten apple logo on all of Apple Corporation’s computers is an acknowledgement of Dr. Turing’s life and work.  Dr. Turing was 41, in 1954, when he died.

When Newt Gingrich, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Santorum state that it is very important to pass a Constitutional Amendment that defines marriage as a contract between a man and a woman, Sanityandsense.com must question both their common sense and their motives.

Sanityandsense.com believes that a constitutional amendment regarding marriage is both un-needed and un-necessary.  This website believes that Mr. Santorum and Ms. Bachmann both support an amendment because these two individuals have substituted their closely held Christian beliefs for the directives found in the U.S. Constitution.  Sanityandsense.com believes that Gingrich’s support of an amendment is designed to support his Machiavellian interests with the Christian “right wing.”  With Gingrich, it is just politics pure and simple.

Sanityandsense.com supports Dr. Ron Paul’s belief that the U.S. Government should ” not involve itself in social engineering.”  On September 10, 2009, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown made an official apology on behalf of the British Government for the way Dr. Turing was treated.  Possibly there is a message here for all of the Republican candidates with the exception of Dr. Paul.  Dr. Paul does not support a constitutional amendment that “defines” marriage.
